SAP Acquires Syclo to Boost Its Mobile Applications

The acquisition will enable SAP to drive growth in core applications, analytics, enterprise mobility

SAP is planning to acquire enterprise mobile applications and technologies provider Syclo, to enhance its mobile applications.

Syclo’s strength in building and selling mobile solutions in oil & gas, life sciences and manufacturing industries will leverage SAP’s mobile solutions.

The acquisition will accelerate the adoption and deployment of new mobile asset management and field service applications on Sybase Unwired Platform, part of the SAP mobile platform and the company’s infrastructure for developing and managing mobile apps.

Syclo’s expertise and technology will especially complement SAP in key mobile areas such as enterprise asset management (EAM), field services, inventory management and approvals/workflow.

The agreement will also enable SAP to drive growth in core applications, analytics, enterprise mobility, cloudand database and technology.

Following the acquistion, Syclo apps will be integrated with the SAP mobile platform and SAP Afaria for mobile device management and security.

Building on Syclo’s Smart Mobile Applications Suite and SAP Business Suite software, the combined companies will serve traditional mobile employees as well as an increasing number of employees in other roles who are embracing smart devices in the workplace.

SAP is expeted to acquire 100% of Syclo’s equity, upon receiving applicable regulatory approvals and satisfaction of certain other conditions. Syclo’s applications will become part of the SAP mobile application portfolio and its employees will join SAP.
