SAP Remote Jobs – Hard to Get but Nice to Have

These days more and more people ditch traditional office jobs and look for jobs where they can work from home. Let’s see if SAP remote jobs really exist, what kind of job one can find and how much it is going to pay comparing to traditional SAP jobs in the office. We are sure that everyone at least once thought about the possibility and advantages of working from home and this post should help better understand available options.

Benefits of SAP Remote Jobs

Before we proceed with our discussion about looking for remote jobs in SAP, let us understand why would one want to change traditional “office-based” SAP job to a remote one.

  1. The first and for many people one of the most important benefits is that you won’t need to commute to your office. If you work in a large city, the commuting can easily take 2 hours of your time per day. You can start working earlier and spend the commuting time on something pleasant for you.
  2. Next important reason is that people who work remotely usually own their schedules and decide themselves when to do what. So, you will always have time for your family when they need you.
  3. You will save money because you don’t need to go to the office and pay for transport. Also, since you don’t need to go to the office, you don’t need to live close to the office (city centre). This means, you can also save money on housing (whether you rent or buy).

It looks like there are good benefits of working from home. If so, then what are the possibilities for SAP professionals to work remotely?

SAP Remote Jobs in Consulting

Many people working in the SAP area are consultants. They work with clients in order to implement and configure SAP solutions for them. If you work in SAP consultancy, then it is unlikely that you will be able to work remotely because clients usually want to have consultants present onsite. It gives them visibility of what they are paying for. For this reason, you will most likely need to be in the office – either of your company or of your current client.

SAP Remote Support Jobs

Another important area is SAP support. We will argue that for people who work as SAP support analysts it is easier to set up remote working arrangement because SAP support in big companies is anyway organised in a remote fashion. So, for your colleagues, it will not make much difference if you call them from the office or from your home. For this reason, it should be realistic to find remote SAP job related to support. Just try to search using the keyword ‘remote’ on our SAP jobs page.

SAP Remote Trainer Jobs

If you have some experience with SAP and would like to get paid for teaching other people, you should consider to become an SAP Trainer. Since many students every year want to start their careers in SAP, there is always demand for trainers who can teach SAP. Nowadays, SAP training is often conducted online, so it gives you an excellent opportunity to apply your SAP knowledge by working from home. The best way to get started is to register in our directory of SAP training providers as a trainer – don’t worry, it is completely free and you can register as a freelance SAP trainer.

Salary for Remote vs Onsite SAP Jobs

Although remote SAP jobs have many advantages, they also have a disadvantage – usually they pay less than onsite jobs. You can to certain extent compensate for the difference in pay by lower costs associated with having a remote SAP job. Still, it is a compromise/decision up to you: if you want to have slightly higher pay but less flexibility or slightly less pay but more flexibility? There is no right or wrong answer to this question and everybody will decide based on their personal circumstances.
