Hi,
If you go to USA, then it is better to pass SAP certification there rather than in Asia (India and other countries) because SAP doesn’t require people to take expensive official training to be eligible to sit the certification in the US.
If you have background in business analytics, think about BI, BW and BPC modules of SAP.
I hope it helps!
Cleo IscoKeymasterYes, domain experience with Accounts Receivables (AR) is beneficial for SAP FI consultants.
Cleo IscoKeymasterHi! This post includes sample SAP SD resume in MS Word format: https://erproof.com/sap-sd-sample-resume/. Have you seen it?
If you want to work as an end user, you don’t need to have very deep knowledge of SAP. I think that your domain experience (in logistics, customer service, or warehouse management) has higher priority than knowledge of SAP software. So, I wouldn’t recommend to put a strong emphasis on the SAP knowledge.
March 16, 2017 at 7:20 pm in reply to: Career prospects of a finance professional in SAP FI/CO #13335Cleo IscoKeymasterI must admit that you have an excellent background for SAP FI/CO. I think that if you decide to become a functional SAP FI/CO consultant after passing a certification, you will probably need to start with some entry level position (because you don’t have relevant SAP consulting experience).
I am not sure if this is the best way for you. Maybe you should not go in the direction of becoming SAP consultant and passing SAP certification. My suggestion is that you should explore the career possibilities of SAP Super Key User – an expert of SAP from the business side. Usually, these professionals also perform some regular business functions (besides SAP) and you have good accounting experience to perform them.
I hope it helps!
Cleo IscoKeymasterHi Oli,
I think that SAP SD could be a good fit for your background. I cannot say anything about the SD course that you mentioned. We also have a free SAP SD course (it is under development).
Why do you want to work as a consultant if you already had experience of working as a project manager? I believe that it makes more sense to continue in the direction of managing projects (more senior role) rather than in the direction of working as a consultant/analyst (more junior role).
SAP certification is beneficial but it is by no means necessary for getting a job.
Can you please complete this form if you would like to apply for remote jobs with us?

As a recent graduate, you should look for some intern jobs. Please see the post SAP for Beginners for more ideas about entering SAP market.
I hope it helps!
Cleo IscoKeymasterOkay, I see. Then, you should definitely go for the associate level certification. SAP will not allow you to go for the professional level due to lack of relevant experience. But don’t worry about it – almost everybody goes for the associate level and it is the most common certification in the SAP world.
Cleo IscoKeymasterHi, it depends on your experience and background. It is not so easy to qualify for the professional certification. Can you please tell a little bit more about your SAP experience?
Cleo IscoKeymasterHi! Where did you learn SAP FI?
