Hi, taking into account your background, I would suggest you to consider the career path of technical SAP consultants (if you really want to join SAP field).
Since you have experience as a software developer, it will be relatively easy to learn SAP ABAP programming for you because the skill of coding is more or less universal across different programming languages and environments. ABAP programmers work on extending the standard functionality SAP and customizing it to the requirements of a particular enterprise.
Another option that is close to your background is to learn SAP BASIS. SAP BASIS consultants deal with technical administration of SAP environments and your experience with servers and networking could be beneficial here.
I guess the next steps for you are 1) read about ABAP and BASIS and decide what you are most interested in, 2) decide if you are ready to work on entry level SAP jobs with low pay (since your previous 5 years of experience probably will not count).

Yes, your understanding is correct. Choose FI or CO. There is good demand for SAP consultants in Australia. FI and CO are two of the most “popular” SAP modules.

terp10 certification is really basic and I am not sure if adds any value to your profile. Why do you want to get certified in FICO if you have experience in SD and LE?
There is no requirements in the UK. You can simply go to SAP Education website and book your certification for £350: https://training.sap.com/shop/certification/c_epmbpc_10-sap-certified-application-associate—sap-business-planning-and-consolidation-100-g/. You might also want to have a look at this page for info about preparation: SAP BPC certification.
Have you checked C_TBIT44_731 certification on SAP website? In India, SAP has additional requirements for people who want to register for certification: they either need to enroll to an official SAP training course or work at a company with a status of SAP partner.
Muthus2002: Yes, you should be to find a job if you get trained in SAP FI. However, it might be difficult to start to find a job and you might need to start from a very junior position. Perhaps, taking into account your business experience, it might be better to consider positions of SAP FI superuser?
